EXCITING NEWS!!!!
March 24, 2013

Dear Friends of Wellspring of Hope,

We are very excited to announce today the next phase in our foundations’ operation. We have added more capacities to provide medical outreach in bringing on our board Dr Uvoh Onoribe, an expert and frequent provider of worldwide medical outreach services.  We will of course continue our focus on education with our educational sponsorships and the St Regis School, as well as health care through our Janet Herter Memorial Hospital in Kan, Cameroon. But in addition to the added focus on medical outreach, we will call our new organization Benekin, a word combining the concepts of “Benefit” and “Kinship”. Keep reading and you will learn why these terms are so important to us.

Our combination will strengthen each of our efforts. The medical outreach will greatly benefit from having the hospital in Kan as a base. And the hospital, as well as our education efforts, will benefit from the increased visits from the outreach projects, which provide visibility, awareness and positive role models to the communities.

More than that, we are planning a new and very ambitious project in Cameroon - a Children’s sanctuary. This children’s sanctuary will provide a home for traditional orphans and street children from the area and the larger towns. It will also pride protection to expecting – often-teen age- mothers and let them to give birth to a healthy baby while learning the skills to support themselves. Moreover, we will invite children whose parents simply cannot provide adequately for their children. Our sanctuary is a very ambitious project, and while we have secured the land and the local project management, we are far away from opening the doors. But we are determined.

In the meantime we are under a time crunch to fund this spring’s medical outreach program in Cameroon. Our focus this time will be on dental and vision care, issues very much neglected and hardly available in Cameroon. There are many ways you can help our efforts among them by donating items you don’t need anymore to our annual garage sale, asking your dental professional to donate surplus supplies to our efforts, or –of course- making a donation for this effort. Based on our estimates from last years outreach, a small donation will provide a child with a complete exam and in most cases remedial action. We expect to provide dental services to some 600 people in and around Kan, Cameroon.

Thank you for your continued support. All of your contributions are of course tax deductible and what’s more important: They all go to the cause and will not be diverted to administration and other non-essential purposes.
